Startup Procedure for XUI & DV

0. Power Up procedures and starting the IC:

   Normally the IRTF staff will power up the spex hardware and start the IC.
   Please check with your TO/Support Astronomer to insure spex is
   ready for use.

   Staff Power Up and IC start procedures 

1. Loggin into stefan.

   Note stefan has 2 displays:

      stefan:0.0 will be used for Bigdog.
      stefan:0.1 will be used for Guidedog.

   If you are running another workstation, substitute
   your display screen for either stefan:0.0 or stefan:0.1.

2. Starting BigDog DV and XUI. Use screen 0.0

   1.  click on the menu 'Spex->Bigdog xterm'
       In xterm, type 'startdv stefan:0.0'

       OR:
          click on the menu 'Spex->Bigdog xterm'
          cd current/dv
          setenv DISPLAY stefan:0.0
          dv -p 30124

   2.  click on the menu 'Spex->Bigdog xterm'
       In xterm, type 'startxui stefan:0.0'

       OR:
          click on the menu 'Spex->Bigdog xterm'
          cd current/xui
          setenv DISPLAY stefan:0.0
          bigdogxui

3. Starting GuideDog DV and XUI. Use screen 0.1 

   1.  click on the menu 'Spex->GuideDog xterm'
       In xterm, type 'startdv stefan:0.1'

       OR:
          click on the menu 'Spex->GuideDog xterm'
          cd current/dv
          setenv DISPLAY stefan:0.1
          dv -p 30125

   2.  click on the menu 'Spex->GuideDog xterm'
       In xterm, type 'startxui stefan:0.1'

       OR:
          click on the menu 'Spex->GuideDog xterm'
          cd current/xui
          setenv DISPLAY stefan:0.1
          guidedogxui

4. After turing on array power, run the following macros 

   Run the array_init macro to initialize the array controller.
